Imagine that you are the not famous fashion designer Christian LaCroix. How exactly does a dress this ugly leave your shop? Here are my theories:

1. It was made for the daughter of a pillow magnate. The poofy, bloated appearance is seen by his family as a sign of success.

2. Christian LaCroix was experimenting with mind altering drugs during early 2001. Oh yeah, you didn't know this was a fairly new design.

3. Christian is really attracted to women with back fat. He especially likes it when they stuff it into a bathing suit. The alternating tight bands of the suit and the billows of back fat inspired Mr. LaCroix into designing this gown.
